Seatbelt Chime Fix

Featured Replies

If you have a chime that intermittently activates despite having the seatbelt fastened it's due to a worn switch in the buckle.

You can unplug the wiring from under the seat to disable it altogether or you can repair it.

To repair it simply split and remove the two halves of the buckle using a large flat blade screwdriver between red release button and outer shell.

Next carefully remove the white plastic switch assembly which clips into place.

Once removed you can see where the belt slides in and pushes against a small metal spring tab.

Insert a small flat screwdriver behind the tab loop and lever it gently outwards so it protrudes a millimetre or so further than before.

Refit the plastic assembly and test, if satisfactory refit the outer shell halves using glue/tape/zip ties of your choosing.  There are two locating dowels for manufacturing like you would find on a plastic model kit but they most likely broke on disassembly-disregard.
