Fabia MK11 2012 tdi will crank but not start

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I have a 1.6 tdi mk11 fabia estate which has been relatively good up until three weeks ago when I went to start it to find it did not want to co operate! I put the key in the ignition all the usual lights came up but the glow plug light stayed flashing. I tried to turn it over but it was having none of it, it would crank but that was it. The camshaft sensor was changed in  February but the codes showed up as the same sort of thing ( I do not have the codes to hand but will get them). The cam shaft sensor was changed and the car started but promptly went into limp mode and would not start again so then the crank shaft sensor was changed. Still won't start by itself but will start with the help of a can of easy start?! Remains in limp mode. They are looking to change a fuel sensor which was over £400 from skoda but found one on ebay for £100! Has anyone got any helpful suggestions because it seems to be driving everyone mad. I don't want to keep throwing money at it but thats what it feels like at the moment. Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

I have experience of this problem on an Octavia with the same engine. I wasn't involved with the fixing of the problem but I believe that the same sensors were changed with the same negative results.

The problem turned out to be broken wires in the loom under/near the battery tray. It might well be something different on your Fabia but it's worth investigation. Best of luck to you.
