skoda fabia mk1 2007 key remote not working

Featured Replies

I have a skoda fabia 1.9tdi 6y5 2007 (mk1). I have a two button key ( lock/unlock ) the remote is not working. The light flashes when i press a button but it wont unlock the doors. The key operates the central locking correctly when opening and closing the door( when inserting the key in the door). When locking the door the light flashes inside the door. I do not have a spare key. I've tried inserting the key in the ignition and turning the ignition on but not start the engine, then locking the doors from inside using the locking switch. but still cant get the remote locking to work. do I need the buy a spare key to lock the door from the outside and follow the remote control programming.

Basic data need here to start a review:-

Has the fob ever worked while you have owned the car.

Have you tried a replacement battery in the key fob.

Which light flashes when you press the button, key fob or the one in the door - low key battery voltage may show the light but not be sufficient for the remote signal.

I would also suggest either getting a programmed key, or at least one of the cheap cut to photo ones off the bay as if your car locks itself with the keys inside it's probably break a window time. The latter will not allow you to start the car, but will open unlock the car.

The battery works in the key fob because the light is flashing on the key fob. I also changed the battery in the key fob. I could change this battery again.

The key fob remote has worked before, the only thing I've done is change the car battery about 18 months ago. But I'm not sure this caused the remote to stop working.

When I lock the drivers door with the key the central locking works and the immobiliser light flashes on the drivers door.

I have the three button flip key jobbies with mine. One of the alarm bits stopped working in pretty much the same fashion as you describe (light flashes but no lock/unlock). I bought a new "alarm" section from eBay and replaced the faulty one.
