How to mount an after-market rear view/reversing camera to the car's display?

Featured Replies

I bought a dash cam and a rear view camera 2 weeks ago and I want to start using them, especially the reversing camera and I don't know how to do the wiring in the car to be able to see what the reversing camera sees, when I put it in reverse. Any help is well appreciated.

What camera did you get?

This may give you some ideas:

Do you have the estate or hatchback?

No idea, what does the user manual say?

Mine is an estate as well. The biggest problem I had was getting the leads from the tailgate into the roof itself. the attached photos may help. The camera came with an jack plug, I found that a drain unblocker cable - a long spring wound rat tail -  had an internal measurement that fitted perfectly over the prong on the camera connector. I then insulation taped them together so I could thread it through the rubber joint of tail gate and side of upper body. You cannot get the lead through very far into the roof space but I found if you pull it across the roof lining a little you can then thread it forward along between the roof and lining which is attached to the roof by what looks like double sided tape. You can then access this cable by gently pulling the roof lining down by the rear then front doors.
