Auto windows

Featured Replies

Hi, my auto windows seem to have a problem.

the electric windows work fine and I can calibrate them to make the auto windows work as well.

but, if I shut my fabia off for a long period off time (more than a hour)  I need to recalibrate them again in order for the auto windows to work.

my car battery seems works well and there are no problems turning it on. It is quite old but since it doesn’t make any problems I’m not sure it is the source of my problem.

also, accessories such as dash cam and Bluetooth work fine.

I wonder if there is a problem with a relay or something like that.

also, my oem swing radio stopped working but when I took it out to check if it gets power it turned on and now there are no problems with it at all anymore (both problems started yesterday).

I tried resetting the car computer by taking out the “-“ side of the battery.

I’ve also tried to plug out the electric connector at the driver’s door and plug it in again.

Thank you for reading and I hope you can solve my problem🙂

Look at all the wiring inside the door loom bellow, both sides. They are very prone to cracking and/or snapping and may need fixing.

Hi Meged,

thank you for answering.

I did check the it and it looks good.

also, as I mentioned I can recalibrate the automatic windows and they work perfectly fine. Even after opening and flossing all the doors couple of times.

only after shutting the car off for a period off time it seems to “forget” I already calibrated it as if I took the battery out.

I had the same problem with my windows, It was the drivers door control unit. I replaced it then all was good.

Hi, Zac1973.

Thank you very much for answering. Where can I find it. Is it inside the driver’s door? I want to find the part number and also replace it by myself.

Yeah the control unit is part of the window motor assembly. It's behind the drivers door card. 3 screws hold the motor assembly on. I replaced mine myself. The part number is on a sticker on the motor. Mine cost £214 new from a local Skoda dealer.
