Hello, I’m New Never had a Skoda Before.

Featured Replies

Hello my name is Roger I’m a retired Precision Engineer, i’ve just purchased my first Skoda a Karoq with Edition trim heated front screen and spare wheel included in the deal.

I never thought I would ever own a Skoda after all the old jokes, but I have watched dozens of Youtube videos on the Skoda Karoq and was really impressed. The main attraction for me was the practicality and the three removable rear seats just like my 10 year old Peugeot 308SW which I still have and has been really useful for all my DIY jobs. I also keep if for my son and his family when they visit from Dubai.

I traded in a VW Polo for the Karoq which was my wife’s car, which we had been thinking of changing for something slightly larger for some time so we can get three grandchildren in the back.

I started looking on the internet for a second hand low mileage Karoq and ended up at CarWow who pointed me to a local dealer who had a low mileage sportline with lots of extras. Unfortunately because of Covid I was told I could not test drive it and they would send me a personalised video. Having viewed the video it did not have removable seats, so put me off, then they offered a SE L with removable seats but no sun roof etc etc. Then they offered me a new car with Edition trim a large discount and another discount if I took out a PCP agreement, which I could pay off straight away to avoid the interest.

It was a difficult decision to buy a car not having seen it and not having a test drive and also told they required £500 deposit, and the car was not returnable if I did not like it.

I decided to go ahead and have now had it four days, first impressions, I like it very much although the ride seems a little on the hard side, but haven’t really been anywhere yet because we are still in lockdown.

I was a little disappointed that it did not have a few features I thought it would have. i.e  kick to open boot, rubber boot mat, sun glasses holder, and SD card slot, also there is less room under the floor in the boot than my old Polo.  Never mind I can live without them.

The keyless entry takes some getting used to, as I want to test its locked after locking it and of course it opens again.

I have also hard wired in my Dash Cam which was quite ease apart from removing the window edge trim.

Time will tell if it was a good decision, I also reluctantly went for the Shine treatment and the extra three years warranty.
