WiFi (MiFi) keep losing connection.......

Featured Replies

Is your windows laptop on a work domain ?

I would still suggest the Ethernet and the 1x1 will definitely cause issues with achievable WiFi speed which will make it slower than the big network at work can deliver. Ethernet cable and adapter if needed just rules out a potential issue for to a lot of money.

If you can download, but it just won’t update, first step would be to try and download the offline windows update package.

An example guide is here :

I do remember a version being stuck in loops during one upgrade, which required removal of drivers, then update then reinstall, but I honestly don’t remember more than that.

The update from 1903 to 2004 has been delayed for some PCs due to compatibility problems with the installer, so if you're going to do a complete reset I would suggest doing a re-install from a 2004 DVD (the ISO file can be downloaded on another PC and the DVD burnt without cost - you need a dual layer DVD).

Do either of you know (or think) that the version issue is likely to be the cause for it having issues with updating other usual updates,.??????

Off to work shortly so will read later. Cheers.

Another question is, should I be worried at all security wise, so logging into online banking????????????

If not, I could leave the updates for a while whilst hoping Microsoft get the issues sorted.......

I wouldn't leave the update.

I will confirm in a bit but I think it has finally completed.........

I took it to work again today and our office girl (Mariam) had a look again (after a conversation Re the version issue) and I returned about an hour later to an update message saying 'congratulations, you are now up to date', or something very similar.

I need to check the winvic (is that right) re the version number but I remain fingers crossed, it is all sorted.

It showed as all up to date this morning and we then ran a virus scan and all showed as good.

Confirm later............. thanks for your time and info guys.

For a long time I had problems where every time I got W10 updates my Wi-Fi dongle lost the drivers. I tried looking on the maker site (TP link) and found a new driver. Problem still existed. I tried a new dongle. This cured the problem for a while but returned on later W10 updates. I eventually bought a new Wi-Fi internal card and to date (even after a re instal and more updates) the problems have not returned.

Well blow me................... (no, not literally, Lol)

There was me thinking my Windows 10 laptop was finally fully up to date but over the weekend it has had yet another Windows 10 Feature Update....... to 21H1 this time.

Oh, and HP has decided to update the BIOS. It did this automatically. Never had this with my HP Pavilion Windows XP or my Asus X53E Windows 7.

Luckily the Feature Update completed (at home) this time although it still took me about three goes....... And the BIOS update seems fine. (blummin hope so anyway).
