Rear Wiper On Estate.

Featured Replies

I've noticed when ever the front wipers are on regardless of what setting, the rear wiper comes on in intermittent mode. Annoying tonight as I was driving in light rain, front wipers on intermittent and the rear came on. Didn't need to as the rain wasn't that heavy and the rear screen was dry. Bit pointless to have a setting for rear intermittent really. Don't seem to be able to change the settings either! Anyone else noticed this. Like the option for having the rear on when reversing.

Overall still happy with the car.

Yes, I noticed that too - but was heavier rain and thought it quite nice that I didn’t have to think about the rear wiper.

As you say, nice that it wipes when selecting reverse; also that the headlights [can be set to] come in when raining.

Automatic rear wiping can't be turned off?

I must say I didn't notice my rear wiper turning on except when I intentionally made it wipe my rear window. :wondering:

Only options available on mine are:

-Auto wiping in rain

-Wiping in reverse

-Service position

Ok. I really don't remember my rear wiper turning on automatically in the rain.

My previous superb estate did this, but normally when it was raining properly.  In light rain, can’t recall it coming on automatically.  It seemed fine.  It comes on much more eagerly in the Octavia and when not needed.

It can be coded out with VCDS together with tear wipe etc, mine was also set to use the rear wiper when selecting reverse gear if the front wipers were on intermittent or full wipe, I deselected that as well.

Must admit I do like the auto wiper in reverse function. Had that on my Landrovers.

You can turn it off, I have done in mine as it was annoying me, it buried in the menus somewhere (as is everything!)

Turning off the wiping in reverse option stopped the rear wiper operating randomly on my Kodiaq. It’s hardly a hardship to flick the rear wiper when reversing to stop the annoying random rear wipe operation.

Turning off the Auto wipers in the rain deactivates the auto front wiper function.

That explains why my rear wiper has never operated on its own. I already had the wiping in reverse disabled.

I like it but I turned mine off. Useful but annoying in most situations
