Good afternoon everyone hope your all OK I'm matt from the West Midlands. I brought a skoda octavia 2 weeks ago of a friend its a 1.9tdi with 120k on clock its a l&k model and a 04 plate one owner from new .I've noticed from cold its throwing lots of smoke out .so I checked the glow plugs there all dead .I've changed all 4 and now noticed there's no power to them .any information on where the relay is or if there common for wires breaking I've noticed a box under the battery but not sure if that controls the fans as well .any info would be great thank you so much .

@Mattheb - How long does the white smoke last? The glow plugs on mine are definitely mostly dead, but it still normally fires inside 3s, and the smoke clears 5s after it fires when cold. No smoke once the air temperature is above 15C.

HI its not white smoke its just the normal smkoe cause the glow plugs are not working .they are brand new but ive tested for power and its just earth there no live at all

It's called "white smoke", and smells of diesel. You're right about why it happens though.

 

But I'm now suspecting your glow plug feed wire if you're lucky, or the control box if you're not.

Yea I thought as much is there a fuse for the feed or relay or the control box and where is the control box is it the same one that works the fans is it the 1 under the battery
