A series of unfortunate events.........

Featured Replies

Well, worrying at least

Cleaning the interior of the car i was wiping down the dash/dials/steering bits when i lowered the steering wheel to access hidden dust, then the column and wheel locked up and the key wouldnt turn in the ignition lock

never had this before

i locked the car, unlocked then pushed it a few feet in neutral, the key went in the barrel, and all was back to normal

You just needed to turn the wheel slightly to take the pressure off the steering lock. The key should have turned as normal then 👍

It will feel quite heavy as you've got no power assistance.

I tried all that, the normal steering lock release but she wasnt having any of it..

lets hope its just a hiccup

By rolling the car forward, the wheels would have aligned with the steering position and taken the pressure off the steering lock.

Very much seems like it was just tighter than you expected...

Still, sorted for now so I'm sure it's fine.
