Tyre size for Skoda Octavia L&H 2011 model

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I recently brought Skoda Octavia L&H 2011 model and surprisingly the car has fitted with 225/45/R 17 in front and 215/55/R 17 for back. I would like to know what will be the right size and best brand for replacing.

There's no such thing. Do you mean a Lauren & Klemens (often abbreviated to L&K)?

Yes sorry miss typed, it Skoda Octavia L&K

There is always a pedant somewhere and today it is me (it is I).  Correct spelling is Laurin & Klement. There is a brief history here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurin_%26_Klement . My 2009 2.0TDI L&K had 225/45 R17 91W Pirelli Cinturatos at each corner. I have the same tyres (although slightly different spec) on my new Octavia iV.

For 7Jx17” rims, the correct tyre should be 225/45 R17 91W.

As for the tyre brand and model, everyone will have their own opinion and it'll depend on your driving style... I expect any decent branded tyres will be fine.

As you're in the North, you might want to consider all-season tyres such as crossclimates. You'll lose some Summer performance but they'll be better in Winter :)

Don’t worry about the 91W part, tyre technology has moved on and you will probably find tyres on sale are now 94 rated (can carry bit more weight), basically as long as not below 91 not a problem.  The letter W is a max speed code (168mph), but fitting V (max 149mph) is not going to be problem.

I too would suggest getting all season tyres, any good brand, although if you want a recommendation then mine is Continental all season contact.
