Buying a 06 plate 1.9 tdi pd100

Featured Replies

Going to look at a 06 plate pd100 with 60k miles got the car down to £1900 which I think is good but hopefully the car looks good in person than in a photo :)

what should I look out for ?

any help is good :)

See if condition of interior tallies with claimed mileage. 4k/yr miles average over 15 years seems quite 'unusual'.

Price seems highish to me for a fifteen year old car too, but can still be a good deal if the thing is in great shape.

i checked the mot history and spoke with the seller it’s been a Older gentleman that owned the car since 2011 and it’s been serviced every year and has recently had the belt and pump done too and looks to be rust free too :)

hope it looks as good in the flesh

Fair play, hope it turns out to be a good one. Sounds promising.

Being a older persons car it has a few battle scars but wouldn’t say there bad just little scuffs and a dent or two but easy fix and it has a wheel bearing noise and rusty brake pipe

hope it’s a good one as I’m sure the pd100 come standard with rear discs ?

Yeah, I'd think it would have discs all round. Rear wheel bearings are much easier than fronts to do, fronts need some special tooling.

that’s good news it’s only on the advisory so not a immediate problem anyways :)

let’s hope it’s a clean car as I love the Skoda fabia mk1

For a long time I had the opinion that these type of for sale ads that seem too good to be true are just that.

However, I am now in the same position as the current owner of the car being talked about with a ‘55 plate Honda Civic being readied for sale (feel free to shoot me for owning something other than a VAG ) that has just 32k miles on the clock, is in almost pristine condition inside and just the odd bit of damage here and there (you really have to look for them) so have a little bit of faith that these unusual cars do actually exist!

As Wino has said, really consider if everything ties in with the age and mileage (the condition of the boot is a good indicator for me) and, if does crack on!

In answer to your question, the usual things to look for are leaking door carriers, wishbone bushes quickly fail, rusty sills and tailgate (just above the registration plate) sticking rear callipers.....there are others that I have missed, which I’m sure you’ll come across with a quick scan through threads or using the pretty good search function.

advert says it’s got no rust but only see if that’s true in person I guess will make sure it’s clean before I pay top Money for it!

Given the price/year I would expect it to be the Elegance model with all the bells/whistles - parking sensors, heated seats, nicer seat trim material.
