I've recently acquired a Fabia 2 '10 plate. It has 31,000 otc but today this circle with a strike through icon appeared next to the fuel level and I'm stumped. I'd appreciate some feedback on its purpose. Thanks in advance.

It means you've switched MFA channel 1 to average MPH inadvertently.

 As Sep has indicated, you will probably find a rocker switch on the end of the RH stalk which cycles you through the data - avg speed and consumption, outside temp, current consumption etc

As others, you're in "trip average speed" mode but haven't actually gone anywhere in the last 2 hours. You'll probably find a double ended push to make rocker switch on the end of the wiper stalk to switch modes, and a RESET button on the bottom of same stalk.
