Engine over heating warning flashed up ? Temperature gauge reading normal and engine coolant level on maximum?

What was the oil temperature and level?

You will need to share the miles done, what engine & gearbox you have.  Petrol or Diesel. Manual or DSG.

Thanks for replies, engine is 1.4 diesel DSg. Oil level ,coolant level ,Temp gauge ALL Normal, Only covered 29,000 miles. After stopping on short 40 mile journey due to Warning light Engine over Heating flashing.on restart no other warning light came on??
