About to press the button on a Kamiq order

Featured Replies

Today we have had a test drive in a Kamiq 1.0 DSG and are about to press the button on an order of one for next year (hopefully it will turn up!!!)

As a current 69 plate Skoda Octavia 1.0 manual owner I was very impressed with the Kamiq (trying not to be drawn in by the Monte Carlo features that we will not be getting on our SE) Personally I think the ride is better, even with the 18" wheel on the demo.  The DSG is very smooth, if a bit hesitant when you pull away and I was impressed to notice even the 1.0 has coasting function.  The stop start worked much less noticeably than on my Octavia.  Also the front assist and lane assist appear much less annoying than the current shape Leons we have at work.

My order is a bit of a sleeper, 1.0 SE DSG in Energy Blue (same as my Octavia) with just optional Adaptive Cruise.  Toying with a couple of small other factory options like the divider net and was wondering if anyone has one and what they are like.

Hopefully I will feel as welcome over here next year as I am on the Octavia forum even though I am a very limited poster as the car has been so trouble or niggle free.

Be sure to check that your SE has the height-adjustable passenger seat.

My stock SE, Oct 2020 bought, 2021 model doesn’t have it and it really bugs me, and my wife especially so.

From seeing the cars around the dealership, the ‘21 model year was a de specification. The lost spec includes rain sensing wipers, auto dimming interior mirror, torch in boot along with other things that may have been a misunderstanding about what was standard or options on press cars regarding the reviews. Thoughts about the car being well specified are diminishing.

The torch got deleted in 2020 as mine get doesn't have it along with missing the cooled glove box which seems to have gone across the Skoda range.

For the SE L in 2021 at least it's lost features like Blind Spot monitoring as standard in addition to what you've said about the wipers and mirror, but for some reason has gained the ambient lighting.

Are any of the missing specification owing to the shortage of semiconductors?

That is my assumption. For some of it I get i.e. Blind Spot monitoring being moved to a cost extra will reduce the demand for it.

But for something like the rains sensing I don't - unless they're having to use a different camera system which isn't compatible.

Some of the spec changes look like penny pinching (have VW moaned that the Skoda is more luxurious than a T Cross), but others just look odd.

Re the rain sensor, auto lights are an NCAP score, but auto wipers are not. Even though the light & rain sensor are the same, how the car interprets the information will need separate semiconductors

Unfortunately VWFS have changed all their prices (upwards obviously) and I only had one option price secured.

So I have pressed the button on the base spec above so 1.0 DSG in energy blue with adaptive cruise.  I have requested that I have the Volans wheel style.

7 months and 2200 miles and I still look forward to every trip in our 1.0 DSG  Kamiq SE. In D it wafts along. Simply superb.

If there's anything I'm not 100% with it's the DSG's slight hesitation when pulling away, as Kental mentioned, and the infuriating stop-start function. A potentially deadly combination when attempting to nip into a line of moving traffic or joining a crowded roundabout. I'm wise to it now but early on caused a few heart fluttering moments.

Hi glad to hear you are enjoying your car. Do you know if your car is a 1.0 110ps or a 1.0 115ps?
