Steering wheel heating turns on randomly and won't switch off

Featured Replies

So I drive a 2020 model with heated wheel specced. It is a feature I absolutely enjoy having in Winter, just like everyone else. But since this Summer it went out of control.

Steering wheel hearing comes on randomly when I start the car. I would normally notice it a couple minutes later, and try to turn it off by cycling through heated seat levels with a button on the climate control unit. Doesn't work, the wheel stays hot. Then I press Menu button on climate unit and try tapping the pictogram on the touchscreen. No luck, my hands still burning. I go to settings and scroll the seat-wheel heating combination options, and only after that I am able to switch the hot wheel off.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any luck fixing it somehow?

2020 model = warranty?

I would make the same suggestion on MY2020. Problem = Back to the dealer to fix it under warranty. ;)

I have a similar issue on my 2017 Passat but might not be related to your fault though. Low cranking voltage due to an aging battery is causing my issue. Some mornings i notice the heated steering is on after i start the car. Maybe your battery low from short runs or possibly faulty battery?

It actually started to happen when my car was 2 years old. But i still have the original battery because it starts ok but i sometimes get a low cranking voltage. The problem is the batteries are too small for these cars and not to mention they are only kept at 80% charge .
