hey everyone. 

 

Q: When replacing the EGR, is this a bolt on job? Does it need VCDS calibrations or can I just drive away? I am aware of the location and difficulty. 

 

1.6TDI CR 116K miles egr previously replaced by Skoda at 49000. 

 

I know these fail again and again, my wife uses the car for 250mi journeys weekly and don't want her to limp mode home. Car is used just on motorways. 

Fit an emulator/simulator and blank it off then forget all about the ridiculous Achilles Heel.

 

You will also avoid a very long and unpleasant job which would otherwise come round again and again.

I was considering it. Not sure how it will impact the DPF in that matter.
