A couple of issues with a Roomster.....

Featured Replies

Hello group :)

Old member (not Roomster owner) returning  as a member of the family has picked up a Roomster.

Car has two niggles:

1) The "Lights-on" warning isn't working. First-level diagnosis points towards a failure within the door-latch: the interior lights don't come on when the door is open, but they do when the passenger door is open. Am looking to replace the door-latch, I can find guides to remove the door-card (no problem there) but nothing about the latch itself. Is it a straight forward job, or is there specialist tools / knack on this?

2) There's an amber flashing headlight icon on the cluster. Apparently, possibly something to with with "range control", which seems odd to me - no HID so no self leveller, plus there is a leveller dial. (Didn't get this on either MK2 Octavias. Headlights do the headlight thing with no issues.

Any help, tips or pointers are always gratefully received.

Thanks :)

Alex

Before replacing the door lock, take a look inside the plastic bellows between driver's door and A pillar. 90% you have some wires split in there.

There is no amber headlight icon. Maybe it is the oil icon or if your car is diesel the fuel pre heating icon.

Maybe a photo of that icon will help us more.

Hi Alex,

Before dismantling anything I would be inclined to check the wiring loom between the door and the 'A' pillar for broken wires.  It is an easy job to pull back the bellows and it is a known failure point for Roomsters.

Edit: Stratosg beat me to it!

According to the owner’s manual, if that amber light flashes it means that the corner following lights are faulty, it apparently it should sound an alarm at the same time, I wonder if someone has disconnected the sounder.

(Sadly, no owners manual 😞 )

I can live with that.....next question:

Does it use fogs as cornering lights, like the Octavia? If so, would it throw an error if there were physically no fog lights installed? And we are talking "not installed" (i.e. blanks), not just "not there", if that makes sense? (I know it begs the question about "how, if not installed", but that can be left for another day ;) )

These are the headlamps that move as you turn into a corner maximising your view ahead, adaptive I think the phrase is.

I would recommend a VCDS scan to see what the issue is, the error may have been fixed and the code simply needs erasing.

Looking through this thread, it seems the issue could be battery or earthing related.
