rear parking sensor constant beep when i put into reverse

Featured Replies

hello again guys,

i have just bought a 1.4 tdi its a great car for what it cost me, however the only problem i dont seem to be able to get to the bottom off is that when i put the car into reverse i get a constant beeb from the rear parking sensors, i have checked they all work as i can hear them all ticking, i have cleaned them with wd40 but only from the outside.

the distance lines appear ok on my display to say how close i am to an object, so its the audible sound i am having issues with.

has anybody else come across this with the rear parking sensors

many thanks in advance...mark

On two occasions I have had the constant beep when selecting reverse. The first time last summer it rectified itself. The second time it happened after I had washed the car. I went around the sensors and pressed in the discs back into the bumper. One sensor felt squishy and water came out of the disc surround. That seemed to rectify the situation and has not happened since even after the wetting we have had in the past few days.

Are these aftermarket, as while the "3" model had parking sensors I thought these were only audible and not linked to the head unit. May be wrong, but this detail may require clarification to allow factual responses.
