Hope this is the right place to post. New member here with a 2015 Octavia Scout. Was not a big fan of the standard wheels so have been on the lookout for some alternatives. By chance I came across an old conversation and messaged another member (ScoutCJB) who mentioned he had a set of Nivalis wheels in his garage. Three weeks later and after lots of email exchanges we rendezvoused in Birmingham this morning and the deal was done!

Hi Rob, agree with you 100%. When I bought my Scout, I at first thought the wheels were "ok" but after 6 months they started to  irritate me, I've always thought that, wheels make a car, did eventually change them.

So glad I changed them. Looks so much better with just a simple change.

what did you go for?

Rather than 225/50R17 on 7Jx17 ET45 rims, I would have gone for 225/55R16 on 7Jx16 ET45 rims. ie. same width and offset rims, but 1" smaller diameter rims and tyres with a 55 aspect ratio instead of 50.

 

The below 7Jx16 ET45 lightweight forged alloy rims weigh about 7.3kg. Scout rims are much heavier at about 11kg. Multiple this weight saving by 4 and that's a huge weight saving...and it's rotational weight saving, which makes an even bigger difference to the acceleration and mpg than static weight saving. Plus less unsprung weight improves the handling.

 

Outside diameter

225/55R16 653.9mm

225/50R17 656.8mm

 

Therefore the outside diameter of 225/50R17 is 0.4% bigger, ie. almost the same.

@Carlston Stance, style, looks, sitting parked, not really about taking to a track.

 

Do you really do this this 'Much better handling stuff' yourself? 

 The Scout is the weight of an elephant before you load it up and use it as a passenger / family car.

When driving on roads with 60 mph NSL's and potholes and ruts and all sorts the cars handle pretty much as they do and accelerate as much as you need when you push the accelerator. 

What 'Ultimate driving machine' do you truck about in? 

?

Is that your black car?

(The front tints look like the driver could get points on their licence in the UK.)
