I'm wanting to upgrade my STREAM head unit in my octavia 55plate to a more updated one but still want the VW style one with apple car play and Bluetooth and what not.

 

if anyone has any guidance or could send me a link to a post before that would be greatly appreciated. 
 

the car has rear parking sensors if that affects anything

Your best bet is one of the aftermarket units made by the likes of Xtron that keep all your existing displays working on the screen .... Most are made for the 2009 onwards facelift models but they do some compatible with the older cars
