Skoda octavia banging noise from rear

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm new to this forum ,I drive an octavia 2017 and I started to get a banging noise from the rear ,several mechanics have looked at it and could not find a fault. After a lot of investigating  by myself I have found that it is the tailgate and to do with the plastic shock absorbers either  side .I have wedged a couple of plastic strips down the side of them and the noise has gone away ,The noise sounded like there was something wrong with the shocks it sounded that bad.Hope this helps someone as I found the solution by chance and it may save someone having parts replaced that it does not need. Also my car makes a creaking noise going over speed humps while braking this was repaired under warranty but during lockdown it came back. I believe  it is related to the bushes on the anti roll bar drying out  but i could be wrong should I replace with genuine parts or poly bushes
