Head Unit Upgrade

Featured Replies

Greetings, I recently bought a Sony XAV-3005DB head unit and stupidly assumed it would be plug and play with an adaptor I bought to convert from Quadcom to ISO.

The veterans here are probably laughing and feeling pity for me as i speak but unsurprisingly it didn't work.

What bits do i need to get this head unit to power on please? And if this stereo is no good, can anyone send me a link to a decent ''chinese'' android stereo for this generation Octavia please?

Thanks!

Does the red and yellow wires need swapping?

I have used a Connects2 steering wheel adapter and that worked straight away.

I have the basic Connects2 adapter I got at Halfords. I don't have the steering wheel controls but would it still be worth buying that adapter?

Only advantage is it gives a switched power connection as well in the ISO power block.

If yours isn’t powering on try swapping the wires first. Assume the original headunit worked fine.

I've tried switching the wires round and the original stereo worked just fine before and after trying out the new stereo.

Tried the new stereo in a different car and that works too. Wondering if the wheel control also controls the ignition CANBUS too.

Could do. I’ve fitted a single DIN Pioneer radio and it worked straight away.

There was steering wheel box on eBay the other day for around £25.
