Tyre Pessures

Featured Replies

Hi

I’ve a 1.5 TSI Karoq, and am a bit confused about the correct pressures.

The tyres are Bridgestone 225/40 R19 and I usually have them at 33 psi all around.

However I got it back from a dealer service yesterday and they have set them at 38.

It’s always light loaded with two people.

Any advice welcome!

Look in the fuel filler flap and decide by that guidance, or reduce the pressures to your usual.

At least at the service they bothered checking and increasing the pressures. hopefully the spare as well if there is one.

Also they reset the TPMS.

Remember and reset it if you adjust or check the pressures.

OTOH indirect TPMS (which is what you have) works on tyre pressure differentials between the tyres. If you drop (or raise) all 4 tyres by the same pressure it won't know.

If.

So you check tyre pressures and reset them, and not everyone runs the same pressures front and rear.

Less than 2 minutes and done because you do not know if AN Other has done it, or when the TPMS was set.

As it is regular checks is simply clever.

This might be a very daft question but why does the inside filler flap show stuff in bars, when garage air lines show in psi?
I’ve Googled it and worked out the equation, but it seems unhelpful. The Skoda dealer inflated them to 38 psi and did not reset the system, the tyre symbol on the instrument panel alerted me to the potential anomaly. I’ve now set them at 35 psi/2.4 bar

I’d ask them but they’re not returning my calls….😆

Because.

Well you are buying cars built abroad.

It used to be Kilopascal / kPa & BAR.

I KNEW Brexit was to blame…….

Nothing to do with Brexit, that filler flap is on a 2010 Skoda in the UK.

Brexit means that today is the day that it begins that New Type Approved cars in the EU need to be built with a Speed Limiter, but not so yet in the UK.
