Hi

Where is the Canbus gateway located on Octavia 2019, I can't find it round the fusebox/over pedals/A-column ?

Hi and thanks for info😀

On the picture it seems to be located over/behind the steering rod?

I have to take an extra look at this tomorrow😁

Yes it would appear so.  Airbag and ventilation in the way too.

On a UK spec car with RHD steering it is above and behind the steering column, on a LHD car I am not 100% sure if its there still or swapped sides?

EDIT: LHD is above your steering column also, only issue is you have a fuse box and bcm in the way.

It does state "the assembly work is identical in RHD vehicles" so with luck it should always be behind steering column, but you are right to question this as there will be differences between LHD/RHD.

I found it, was where you said it should be😄

Its only slot 2 and 4 which are free in the plug, I have to connect 7 and 17, what to doo? I retrofit the traffic camera in the windshield🙃

Not sure what instructions you have for your retrofit, and for the record I am no expert on this (I have done own retrofits in the past)

Do you have a copy of your instructions to share?

Edit: Again, no expert on wiring diagrams, but not sure you actually should be wiring the Front Camera directly into the Gateway?

The connection should be made to T17a pins 12&13, which then takes your CANbus messages to Gateway and also to J745 Control unit for cornering light and headlight range control

Thanks for help😀

I do not know, but Kufatec where I bought the cables says the following:
-CAN Bus 1 (gateway) - pins 7 and 17
-CAN Bus 2 (connector A-cloumn to ACC / front assistant sensor) - pins 9 and 11
-connect power cable to fuse SC32 (but it must be 35) in fuse box
-ground to ground point (down in the A-column)

In your drawing, there are both CAN connections 1 and 2, and pins 7 and 17 are connected to J533(CAN gateway?)

CAN Bus 2 and ground are fine, these I have connected

Have sent email to support at Kufatec, hope they can help(but I do not really think they can) 🤔

Best to check with Kufatec to verify, then the blame can be dropped on their shoulder's

Hi

Kufatec says that these wires must be soldered, since the slot was already in use. Same with the power cable
Didn't really want to solder in the car's wiring, and there isn't that much space to get to under the dashboard either. Any other places it can be plugged in that are easier to get to? Diagnostic plug for example?

Unless my brain is shot to pieces, reading the wiring diagram all wrong, you could connect the 2x wires to t17a - black connector.

Issue is you are going to be getting in deep end, so unless you are entirely happy with this process, you may want to stop or get someone else to take over (if you are not confident

You could splice into this location.
If you have a continuity test on your multimeter, you could ping from this location to your gateway pins, if circuit pings as complete, then you can wire in your cables there (at least the 2 you was mentioning)

Thanks for the tip, you're good. Will check this out 😄

Here you see a picture of the contacts in my car, in the brown plug I have connected Can 2 (this goes to the front assist)

That kinda reminds me... Tomorrow we are eating spaghetti.

Progress is being made I see, some learning curve for sure.

I've just fitted direct TPMS to my MK3 which connects to CAN Ext.

As mentioned above, T17a is the black connector and a pretty easy place for access. Snippet of the wiring diagram and wires circled below:
