When connecting my iPhone either via CarPlay or Bluetooth, the ring tone volume of the phone is always pumped up to maximum. 
 

Setting the volume to where I want it (much lower) is forgotten the next time I connect the phone. 
 

Previous cars have always respected the lowered volume setting and have never jacked it up to full anytime I’ve connected. 
 

Is the a setting somewhere to stop this deafening habit by my Kodiaq?

iOS / iPadOS volume controls are a black art, these days. Each ‘thing’ seems to have a separate volume setting and unless you change it at just the right moment, you’re just changing the main volume setting.

 

Try getting someone to call you while you’re sat in the car, and while the phone is ringing, change the volume. Being stationary is recommended, obviously 😉.

We had this issue. The fix involved disconnecting the phone from the car, and ensuring both the phone on the car and the car on the phone were fully 'forgotten'. Then reconnect the phone again.
