  1. Thanks for that comprehensive description of how PKI works - I suspected things were pretty locked downL, and you have confirmed my suspicion. I will see if I can find a local Indy with VCDS.
  2. Thanks, I did wonder about all those checksums. Looks like I need to find someone local to Ipswich witch VCDS to do the tweaks. I have a couple of indys I can try.
  3. Hi, Having prodded around in the JSON files, and NOT having VCDS to be able to make the tweaks myself, I am wondering if there could be another option, which is to relabel the block of text in paytmc.json (i.e. flip the values 32782 / 32783), so that the maps are updated to contain the new data rather than the pointers configured from VCDS. Likewise with the 14/15 which seem to be defined in paytmc_s0to15.json. Is this likely to work, or is there some inherent meaning in the values which I've not spotted ? I'm assuming I could edit the ISO file and reload the maps file (I've just updated maps, so not sure I can do that even). Alan.
  4. Just had the same thing on my 2016 Mk III Superb, with the aid of the pics and the tent peg tool (now living in my glovebox!) to pull the plastic locking clip out, it was sorted. You need to be careful when putting the door handle back that you engage the mechanism inside the door, the first time I slid it in, it did not engage and was not going to open anything despite the handle moving freely. Another go, keeping the handle closer to the door, and it engaged properly. You can check it (Carefully!) before putting back the fixed part at the back of the handle. Many thanks to the contributors who worked this out ! Alan.
  5. An update on this. After hearing nothing more back from them, I dropped an escalation into their customer service section yesterday (https://www.marriottmotorgroup.co.uk/customer-services/ - "We stride ourselves to deliver an unparalleled customer service and we really like to hear about your positive feedback.". <Stride ???> ) which I suspect was what triggered a new offer to honour the online pricing (for "Oil and inspection" and "DSG oil change" and the original brake price quote. Yes, I know I'm paying over the odds for main dealer servicing, but that will change next year once it's out of the 5 year extended warranty. Going further afield was not really an option, 'cos nobody seems to be offering courtesy cars at the moment because of Covid.
  6. This really is an easy DIY job. I did mine at 4 years - about £15 for the filter from 'tinternet, and 10 mins. On the Superb, you need to slip the glovebox out, then it's right in front of you (I think there's a thread on the forum here somewhere). What I found surprised me, the filter that was "replaced" by the main dealer in 2018 was dated 2016... so either some very old stock on the shelf, or the work was not actually done. As I only discovered it 2 years later, it was too late to do anything about it.
  7. They wanted £230 for the Oil and inspection service, and £230 for the DSG change. They quoted £210 for the rear brakes at the MOT in March, but didn't have the parts, so I delayed until the service was due. Now quoting me £379 - for doing the fronts, even though I asked them do quote for the rears!
  8. Thanks for the Ipswich link - my local dealer. I have just been quoted (by them) way more than standard pricing for Oil & Inspection + DSG oil change, plus a rear disc and pad replacement at nearly £400. It doesn't help that their phone system is broken, so won't take incoming calls ! Let's hope they come back with something which reflects the pricing they advertise, otherwise trading standards are going to be getting a call ! I don't mind paying the dealer rate, as I'm in the 5 year extended warranty, but they should honour the prices they quote on the site.
  9. Sorted - applied a small dose grease to the catch mechanism, and it has been quiet ever since !
  10. I am having a similar rattle, and suspect the cabling to the remote release on the right hand rear seat. if I fold that seat forward, it seems to stop. The grey trim / boot carpet seems to be glued on, so can't get in to take a good look, but there are definitely loose cables in there. You can see them behind the black closing plate on the outside lower edge of the seat - visible when folded forward. I have been experimenting with bits of cloth stuffed in various places but as others have said, just when you think it's sorted, it starts up again, so I could be on the wrong track altogether !
  11. Just tried to get an update for my March 2016 Superb III L&K, but Update Portal says "Data for the map data was not found. Please contact your dealer" has anyone else had this ? I wonder if the dealer didn't set something up properly when the car was new... Also, there are differences between mine and my Brother's near identical June car - he missed out on the TV option, but gets more choices on the interior ambient lighting. Has anyone tried to update the MIB software ?
  12. After 2 weeks I am still on the original tank of fuel, done nearly 600 miles now. The first 300 was a couple of 60 mile dual carriageway runs, and the rest local running around. Today I did the second 300 with A12/M25/M25 relatively light traffic, averaging over 60MPG (indicated). Overall average showing about 48. Previous Mark 2 170 would have averaged about 50 at best on this run, and about 40 overall. Pic taken while I was stationary in traffic (UK readers will know this happens on M25. Using economy chassis settings, so ACC does not push the acceleration too hard.
  13. I can store seat memory positions on to the buttons, but it won't let me associate with a kessy key. This thread seems to indicate a software fix... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/388412-seat-memory-not-working/?hl=%2Bkessy+%2Bseat+%2Bsuperb But if anyone knows what else I could try, do let me know.
  14. L&K Hatch,2.0 Diesel, 150ps in Quartz Grey with Beige interior. Extras - Spare wheel,Ventilated seats, Parking Camera, MFSW with flappy paddles, Smart light assist, Travel Assist, Integrated Towbar, Heated washer nozzles and Rear back seat release. So far all good, just need to get the KESSY software upgrade so I can program the seat memory to the key fob. A much improved car over my 2009 Superb II Elegance, which was still great. Had to wait a bit, as the first arrived in January, and was then terminally broken in transit - beware anything with a similar spec - check underneath for significant repairs !
  15. The dealer did not give much info - i can only imagine the underside would be damaged by driving over a ramp or some sort, on or off the ship, or onto the transporter. I don't see how this would happen on the ship, so hopefully is a one off and yours will be fine. I would take a mirror and torch and have a good look underneath when you collect though :-)
