Stupid question regarding TPMS

Featured Replies

Morning peeps,,

going to be getting all my tyres changed either this weekend or next,,,

my stupid question is do all the wheels need to go back on the same axles??? That they came off,,,,,, just wondering if the sensors in the wheels need to be in a specific position??,,, or will any work on either corner ???
also do they have batteries in them 🤣,, and if so what type and should I change them 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

Unless you have retrofitted direct TPMS, there are no sensors in the wheels.

It's all based on the speed readings from the ABS sensors.

No; you do have to check the tyre pressures yourself so you know they're right; 2 otherwise good tyre fitters I know always set 30PSI all round, irrespective of car and tyre type and size. Then you also need to reset the TPMS so it knows you have new tyres and what the pressures actually are.

Yes, absolutely they should replace the valves and this is why I disagree about the "advantages" of direct TPMS.
