AGM Battery

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have fitted an AGM battery, Exide EK700 70Ah 760A 096 in my 2010 mk2 Greenline 1.6 tdi. Does the car need to be "told" it has a new battery and an AGM battery fitted via VCDS? Thanks.

If you replaced AGM with AGM, then nope.

If you swapped from EFB to AGM then ideally yes.

Adapting the battery allows the car to know capacity, rather than having to learn new charging habits.

Thank you for the reply yes, I did change it from an EFB battery I don't have VCDS but I have a friend that has VCDS is it easy to do? Thanks

Yes it's fairly simple swapping of values.

Hi

I tried to change the adaptation with VCDS but it would not let me it said information wasn't available, so I tried OBDeleven and it was the same there, after spending a long time on the internet I think I know the reason, the car might not have a battery control module as it is NOT stop start could I be right? Thank you.

Quick way to tell is the stop start cars have an extra connection on the negative pole/wire.

No, the car does not have an extra connection on the battery negative pole, it's not stop start, so is it only cars with stop start that have the option of changing the battery details? Thanks.

AFAIK only the car's with stop start will have the gateway coding.

I think you are right the strange thing is I never saw it said it was with cars that was only stop start! oh well past a few hours on, and I bought the OBDeleven but it should come in handy one day. one day. Thanks for your help.
