Airbag light on, 05 Skoda Octavia estate

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I've got the airbag light on but have also got a button which says Airbag Off and was wondering if the button has anything to do with the light being on. The button doesn't work by the looks of it and was hoping this is all that could be wrong with it as I've connected a code reader and no faults have come up.

Not all code readers are able to interrogate the car correctly.

Have you got pictures of what you are describing?

More accurately, "front passenger airbag off". It's for when/if you have a rear-facing baby seat on the front passenger seat. Other than that, airbag fault lights are normally latching, and require dealer grade software, such as VCDS, to be cancelled.

Another likely victim of the driver's underseat connector becoming loose.

I am going to put my money on the passenger side seat connector unless the normal driver is very short or the vehicle never carries rear passengers.

Why? If there is only one rear seat passenger they tend to sit beside the passenger seat, especially taller ones who like to stretch their legs out under the seat to create airbag fault codes!

VCDS or similar will narrow it down to one side or another.

Another possibility, had the OP recently removed the glovebox and in doing so the connector to the passenger airbag disable switch?

The second pic is the one I'm talking about, the airbag button is to the left of the missing button. I'm not sure if it is an actual button or just a light to tell me if it's working or not lol.

The "button" is a reminder light if you switch the passenger air bag off with the key switch in the glovebox.
