2010/11 Octavia vRS advice

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Having owned new cars for the past 5 years and now working from home full time, I've decided to sell my Ford Puma and put the equity towards a used car.

I've found these two Octavias fairly local to me that I'm interested in:

2011 Octavia vRS

2010 Octavia vRS

I'm not very clued up - is there anything of particular or obvious concern?

The 2011 one (blue) has had plenty of new parts and also a turbo and engine replacement at 118k miles. The owner said it was done with the previous owner due to excessive oil consumption so I've asked if it was a warranty replacement

Any advice hugely appreciated. Thanks

Welcome.

Does the car with the replaced engine have supporting paperwork for you and the DVLA if required. (even the Police / Insurance Loss Adjuster to show the engine was from a legit source and not a stolen car.)

I am assuming it was a used engine and not a New Base Engine or Factory refurbished with supporting paperwork.

So a receipt / invoice showing where the used engine came from, with the engine number, and is the engine replacement number on the V5C?

So the DVLA were notified.

Hi toot. This is the response from the seller:

"Just spoke to the previous owner on the phone, the engine in the car currently has a rebuild as the stem seals went which caused large oil consumption. The turbo is new, no invoices are available unfortunately as he doesn't have them anymore and I did not take them.

Therefore DVLA did not need to be notified and the engine numbers remain the same, just new internals not sure how much of he engine was rebuild, could of been either a full or just top end. Most likely just a head rebuild."

OK,so just a rebuild.

The issues with the 1.8 & 2.0 TSI are well documented at the top of the Octavia Mk2 section and what is required with rebuilds so good if done and all is well.

Be aware of the possible issues with any others you are looking at.
