HELP! dropped something down dashboard top vent

Featured Replies

hi guys, some dropped a small metal/plastic piece (about the size of an entire fingernail) down this dashboard top vent

i have dug through the manual to figure where it goes ... and the short answer is, i have no idea. seems to be an air guide duct of some sorts

is there anyway to get it out without removing the entire dashboard? have tried to insert a magnetic snake .. but the snake is too thick

if i leave it in, is it gonna damage some part/fan/belt or get sucked in where it shouldnt?

it is not rattling yet - but i have been super slow and gentle to prevent it from moving further in (assuming it is there somewhere)

many thanks in advance

The surround and grille will simply lever out, best to equip yourself with a glass filled plastic trim removal tool to prevent marking the soft textured finish.

My older boy recently chased a dropped screw on his motor bike with a plastic tube taped to a vacuum cleaner nozzle.

Wasn’t the final solution for him but worth a try.
