Which infotainment system do I have?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a 2017 Scout with the system information, shown in the attachments. Could you tell me what infotainment system I have - Bolero, Amundsen, or Columbus?

Context: I don't have the SmartLink function activated (I can't use CarPlay/Android Auto). My aim is to try to activate it myself. For this, I suppose I need to find out the proper firmware (sorry, if I'm expressing myself with the wrong terms, I'm new to this topic). So I thought - the first step would be to figure out the model of my infotainment system.

Thank you very much in advance!

Welcome to the forum, that should be Amundsen, and you can update the firmware to 0369.  But the features you are asking to activate, are already inside your firmware.

There are two ways to activate the features, at a dealer they can apply codes to activate these items, at your expense.

Or you can use a free tool to hack your system yourself, at your own risk.  The tool is normally fine to use, and has been used by many to activate.

To do the free option, you must have VCDS or similar tool to enable developer menu in the radio, otherwise you cannot do the free method.

Amundsen MY17 by the looks. Some good info in here.

I haven't read through it all to remind myself but AFAIK the android auto / car play activation is a dealer activated service. I don't think you can DIY it.  Waits to be reminded differently...... Edit: @varooom responded as I was typing.

Hey @varooom  thank you for the lightning-fast response.  @TheClient - you, too. :)

@varooomI'll review the materials you provided and will get back to you! Thank you so much!

As long as you can get Developer mode enabled with VCDS or similar, then you can DIY this.

You should decide if paying for such a tool is worth it, as a few visits to the dealer will offset the tool cost.  I think dealers charge about 150 Euro to add the code into your car, so that way is most of the price of VCDS tool that can be sold at a later day for not much loss of money.

Wow!! Thanks for your fast answers.

Do you know which one? Mib2? Or if it's possible to update the firmware?

Thanks again

Press and hold down the Menu/Setup button for 10 seconds, this enters you into engineering menu.  Then look around for Software Train information.

Yours might be..

MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0359T

Available

MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0369T

Where MST2 = MIB2 and MSTD = MIB1

Ok!! I'll check it! And I look for a thread about it.

Thanks !!!!!
