problem with fuel gauge

Featured Replies

i brought a 54 plate octavia from local skoda dealer and upon collection i was told that when it was pdi 20.00 pound of fuel was put in car but the fuel guage was stuck.i was reassured by the dealer that when i fill the car up the gauge would then work.

i also noticed that the seat belt buckles were under the rear seat and when i mentioned this the dealer removed rear seat and adjusted them accordingly.when i asked why they were like that he replied that the previous owner probably had seat covers on and when they took them off they hadnt put the seat back proper.

feeling happy with what was said i took the car on the 25/05/06 and filled it up with fuel.ths made no difference to the guage which was still not working and so they took the car back on the 31/05/06 to repair.

upon further investigation i have found out that to replace the fuel sender you need to remove the rear seat which leads me to believe that they already new about fault.

anyway they have replaced fuel sender, fuel pump and new clocks on dashboard but this has not rectified the fault.they have now told me today that it must be a short in the wiring and have to remove parts of the dashboard, seats, trim and carpet.

being that i only had the car for 2 days i told them that i was not happy with this because in my experience once this is done there will always be rattles in the car.thier reply was that if this is the case just return the car and we will sort it out.

as i have to pay for car over 5 years i do not have the same attitude towards it now knowing what has been done and so queried the 30 day exchange policy.i was told that as this is not a major fault this cannot be done.

your thoughts and comments wold be much appreciated before i contact the dealers again

THANKS
