Timing case leak 2.0 TSI

Recommended Posts

Since I bought my car 18 months ago it has had a very minor oil leak - diagnosed by the dealer as either a timing case leak or a camshaft cover seal leaking. Skoda have quoted $807 AUD for the repair (£437 for the UK folk).

Tonight the car leaked a fair amount of oil on the road after being parked for 2hr so I am inclined to get the repair done, as it doesn’t seem to just be weeping anymore.

Does this seem like a reasonable price, and would it be likely to be cheaper at an independent shop?

Thanks.

Have you tried nipping up the cover bolts?

I haven’t no. I’m not mechanically minded unfortunately. The dealer has done so in the past I believe though
