Interior Creaking Noise

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

My 2017 Skoda Superb has recently developed an annoying creaking/rattle noise on the left side interior between the front and rear doors when driving.

Initially appeared to be around the passenger seatbelt unit, but on further inspection it seems to be coming from either the front door or rear (front section) on the passenger doors.

Keen to know your thoughts to sort the noise, as can hear the darn thing even with the stereo on 😀

Cheers

It can be exterior "chrome" door trim.

You'll need a passenger in the car to help you narrow down the exact location. Unfortunately, it's too hard to determine otherwise.

I've had rattles in both front doors, which was caused by a dealership using screws instead of rivets (possibly during another repair).

Exactly right. Noticed after car wash it has stopped the creaking. Now just have to work out how to lubricate the exterior chrome to stop the noise permanently. Cheers

I really wouldn’t do that, unless you want the strip to spring off the door; it uses friction grips to hold it in place.
A couple of years ago, the strip on the OS rear door was loose and rattling on ours. I got a rubber mallet and a 10cm x 3cm block of pine and, placing the 10cm length against the strip, I tapped it all along the strip. No more rattle.
