Octavia mk2 PD diesel - draining fuel.

Featured Replies

Hi all. I have got to get some diesel out of the fuel tank, but the anti-siphon measures are frustrating my usual method! Can anyone advise which pipe to take off the fuel filter up front in order to be able to pump the fuel through using the ignition? Thanks.

I've answered your question, what's the issue other than wearing the key out?

The car is a write off, and is being picked up on Monday. I want the fuel out of it, but don't want to damage the pipes.

You have indeed, maybe he wants you to do it for him, can you get down to Kent before Monday?

If you mean that you dont have the kit to disconnect the hose from the filter now that they have all been identified for you then you should remove the fuel tank sender unit and siphon from there, its a bayonet fitting, no tools required.

You say the car is a write off so what does it matter, drill a hole in the bottom of the tank and drain it that way.

No I didn't, but doing it that way called for specific parts to couple on. I did it a different way, so it's all sorted now.

I think the insurance company might get a bit p"ssed if I start drilling holes in their property.... either that or wonder how I was still driving it with it draining diesel everywhere.

He gave you a diagram idetifying the function all the hoses from the filter housing which is exactly what you asked for, they can be removed using many different hand tools, a pair of pliers being the most likely to be owned by anybody.

This is a forum for helping others, people using the search function usually find what they need without having to create a thread, with that in mind could you see your way to explaining why you believe that you needed specific (coupling) parts to pump fuel from an open ended pipe and what your different method was please?

Hi new here, So last night i put petrol in my diesel Octavia then proceeded to drive it 🤪 I got a couple of km then it died and wouldnt start. So my plan is to drain the tank via the the ignition i've looked at the diagram above ( very grateful for that ) but i'm not 100% which of the 4 hoses is the feed from the tank and the way my luck is going right now i don't really want to chance it. Any other tips anyone can offer would be very much appreciated apart from a visit to specsavers.
