Is it the same story with the different comparison sites, double the premium for your car at the new postcode?

Is it really that dodgy an area?

A local to your new address brokerage is most likely to give you the best quotes etc for that address.

Thanks Ken i will try them after the bank hols. mine used to be fully comp 35 yrs driving for 280 a year now my quotes go from 450 to 800 .All ive done is move 5 miles

Postcode lottery, once moved 1/2 mile, from postcode SK5 to M18, insurance doubled. Might have to try 2 or 3 different comparison sites. Good luck.

That is nuts!

I'm 37, 11 years no claims and just renewed with eSure for £287 on a 15 plate TSi.

That only other companies with a similar cost was Admiral and LV. But it's going to be a lottery, what works for you and what works for me will probably be completely different so sometimes just shopping around is best.

It's all crackers!! My Mrs has a Fabia and her insurance has reduced slightly with Tesco.

My VRS, with Tesco, nearly Doubled. I spoke with Adrian Flux and they reckon it's partly to do with getting spares from the manufacturer and the subsequent hire car costs while waiting for the parts.

The only quote I saw that was anywhere near last years quote didn't have a hire car.

Perhaps we should all go back to puddle jumpers! Nah. 😄😄😄

I'm 47 with 14 years no claims and esure have just quoted me £500 for a 65 plate TDI, It really is becoming a lottery 😞

It's such a shame, it means people will eventually go and buy newer cars that are cheaper on the monthly payments.

Same with tax, my dad wants to buy a Saab 9-3 estate (has a Saab 900), only a 2L turbo but these are almost £600 to tax a year!

Here I am in 2025, looking at a 2023 thread, still battling insurance lottery with many insurers just flat refusing to insure the 18 plate Octavia vRS we are buying.  Not going to stop us though, one the best cars going.

Did you check on the Insurance database to make sure it hasn't been involved in an accident (i.e. CAT S).  Get a full finance and vehicle history check (I do this when I get a new-to-me car and its saved my bacon many times over).  This could be the reason why you are being flatly refused cover.

The other thing to consider is that Crim's love an Octavia VRS.  They are the new Golf in terms of them being stolen to order.  You might not be in a 'dodgy' area, but any location near a big city tends to attract the thieves.  Sad reality.

every insurer this year went up over £100 for me except admarial which dropped £60
