Skoda Fabia mk2 2011 shelf parcel clips

Featured Replies

Hi guys I'm new here.

I have a Skoda Fabia mk2 2011 tsi.

I've noticed the clip on the left were the shelf parcel clips is broken but not completely snapped off. So I used some super glue; not sure if this would work and how long it would last. How can I replace this please? It seems to be part of a panel.

Thank you all

Attachments will not open but if the same as mine, I think that it is like a capped tube sticking out which is hollow. When mine started to break I put a bolt with a large penny washer from the inside, making sure bolt was size for size with the tube and also applied 2 part epoxy before fitting to position. If it is the clip on the  parcel shelf itself, the clips can be bought for replacement.

Hi Keith

Yes, correct they're the capped tubes sticking out.

How did you manage to fit the bolt from the inside?

Good idea.

Thank you.

I had to diss-assemble the side panel to ensure that the bolt was as big as possible, and the washer or even a piece of plate on the inner face were maximised. It should be possible to weld the washer or plate to the bolt head to maintain squareness of the fix. The fix was carried out probably 8 to 10 years ago and is still good. I probably used an excess of epoxy but the fix has proven good. You will also be able to use an over length bolt that can be trimmed to ensure it sits within the full length of the plastic moulding.

Drill the end cap of it out, put some smooth dowel of the correct diameter in? You could fix the cracks at the base with careful application of epoxy.

However I think you’re going to get neater results if you take the panel off and repair from behind.

Potentially get a captive nut welded to the body behind there and you could screw in some threaded rod of the right size in and paint the end black?

I tried supaglue but it didn't last long. What did work was to drill a hole and then while holding a piece of metal with a hole in it with long nose pliers then screwing a self tapper into the metal. This has lasted a couple of years with no problems.

I've managed to 3D print replacement dowels that use 3 self tappers to locate.

I'll try and get a pic of them fitted. If anyone wants a set, £5 for a pair plus delivery ?

Any pics of these?

I drilled a small hole through and used those diy toggle screws pushed through and tightened. A bit of glue on the cracked bit as a back up to secure in the correct place. Lasted ages and all you could see was the screw head. You could paint that to blend or even put a number plate screw cap on and do it

Sounds like a good idea, I will give that a go thanks 👍

I had the same issue on both sides- so i designed these easy to fit screw type repairs- they work a treat!!
