Dual Zone Illumination - silly question?

Featured Replies

Hello

This may be a silly question...

I have a 2.0 TDi Elegance with MF display which I've had for a year from new. I got into the car today in a covered car park and when I turned the ignition on (without starting the engine) the two temperature displays on the Dual Zone climate control were backlit. No other displays were illuminated and the lights were off (and I don't have Light Assist).

Obviously it's quite difficult to see the backlight when driving in the sunshine so I wondered whether this was all in my imagination and the backlight has always been on and I just haven't noticed. If anyone who has dual zone could check when it gets dark I'll be grateful!

Maybe I'm just getting old and forgetful...

Cheers

Hi, I think that they do illuminate as you describe. Thats the way they are on my vRS and it was also the same on a year old Elegance I borrowed from the garage the other day.

Some one on here will be able to tell you if this can be altered/re programmed, but doesn't sound like it is a problem, and if it is, it's not unique!:)

Thanks for that - just goes to show you're never too young for dementia to set in!

Yup, does it on mine too, your'e not cracking just yet!.

It is a normal feature , but a bit of an odd one IMO.

I can't see why you'd need just those two screens illuminated at all times

Maybe Skoda have learnt a lesson from the old climatronic being hard to see during the day without being backlit, same with the stereo as well.

I always have my side lights on so I can see everything.

On my L&K everything lights up if I switch on the ignition in the dark - which seems more sensible. I guess this is a feature of light assist and quite useful to someone for whom premature dementia caused by demanding kids is setting in!:)
