Skoda Scala Clutch

Featured Replies

Hi, recently brought a 69 plate Scala, I’ve noticed that the biting point on the clutch is quite high. Is this common with the Skoda  Scala and can this be adjusted to make it bite lower down. I don’t think the clutch is going as there is no shudder or struggling to get gear.

The clutch is hydraulically operated sharing fluid from the brake reservoir. So I don't think any adjustment is possible.

Make sure there is at least 1 inch free play on the pedal before you feel the clutch pressure. Otherwise the clutch is probably worn. In that case, if you recently bought it from a dealer or trader, take it back and complain.

No adjustment and conversely a hydraulic clutch is self adjusting so wear of the clutch plate does not result in a high pedal and lack of free play as it would have 30+ years ago on a simple cable clutch before they too gained self adjusting mechanisms in the late 80's.
