Wheel nut caps

Featured Replies

Could anyone tell me why I can't find the wheel nut caps and locking wheel nut caps to fit my car. The item codes are 17mm ordinary nut cap 1Z0601173 and the locking nut cap is 8D0601173E.? I have sent for many sets, all claiming to fit my car but none do. The car was bought new, no wheel modifications. Thanks

Hi. Nuts are 17mm. Manufactures codes (vw/audi) are 1Z0601173 for nuts covers and 8D0601173E for lock nut covers. The ones people send me are either (17 mm nut) too tight , too short or both. The lock nut caps that are sent are usually too big, just fall off. I found someone who had 4 lock nut covers, which had right number on them, and were classed as 'old' model, but they mysteriously got 'lost' in the post. Thanks

The normal bolt covers will be a tight fit to stop them coming of at speed.

Do you have the bolt cover puller tool?

Look for part number 321 601 173, but check the colour you order.

Yes you have to older type of Lockers.

Newer type are bigger and are like these:-

So I think you have been sent these as above.

HTH.

Thanks. Could you tell me the length of the covers that you show (321 601 173) please.  Mine are 20mm overall length with 16mm that actually fits nut. I realise the should be tight, but all the ones I have been sent are too tight to push on... Mine push on and seem to click in place. Obliged

Will the normal bolt covers fit your locker?

Thanks again for your quick reply.  You see your nut covers are 12mm /18mm respectively where mine are 15mm/20mm respectively. This is my problem ,the ones I am being sent are too short and generally too tight as you can see from the difference in measurements. It's a real pain, I have been trying for months. I even considered buying full wheel trims to cover the whole wheel but not too sure on what they would look like against my alloys. Thanks for your replies.

Thanks for that. I will try and check parts numbers, although delivery rate is a bit steep. Much obliged for your help

A couple of years ago, I bought some genuine caps from the Skoda dealer.
They were OK for a while then they seemed to become loose and were wobbly.
I contacted the parts chap and he said none else had mentioned loose caps.

So two tiny blutack blobs of blutac on either side of the cap and they are still attached.
just enough blutac to hold them on but not enough to lock them on for ever.
