Timing belt for oil pump

Featured Replies

I will be changing the timing belt on a 63 plate 2.0 TDI. When doing my research I noticed that there is another timing belt that drives the oil pump, this belt is hidden behind a cover. When I purchased the timing belt kit the oil timing belt was not included. Does this belt need to be changed as well when completing the timing belt?  I guess it will be wise to change it. Any one done it? Can’t seam to find information on this belt.

This belt works in oil and (as per Škoda) is LifeTime belt.

It's not included in OEM timing belt kit but is included in some aftermarket kits.

BUT

If during replacement of timing belt will recognize crankshaft seal leak, it's wise to replace oil/vacuum pumps' small cheap belt too, at the same time.

Because for seal or pump's belt replacement it's necessary to dismantle all timing stuff and oil sump.

It's Teflon seal, built into plastic cover = compele unit.

Hence, engine can be started only after few hours after replacement of seal (Teflon lip must settle properly).
