Speedo swap issues !!

Featured Replies

I have got a hold of a  newer speedo from the scrap yard as mine the dial lights have gone out. Thinking this would be a easy swap not. It's lit up like a Christmas 🎄. It also comes up with imobilizer active. Any help would be great full for the new guy thanks.

Even with VCDS you cannot pair a different instrument cluster to a vehicle, it holds the immobiliser data so the vehicle will not start, there will also be a conflict between the recorded mileage and that stored in the main ECU, a Skoda dealer may be able to make the coding changes but they are set up to do so after having sold you a new cluster.

Can you not exchange the backlit part of the dial whilst retaining the original PCB with the canbus module?

I dont know the answer to that having not stripped mine down.

Well people I have arranged to get it sorted. The original fault was the led lighting had stopped working. Common fault I suppose. Anywho it been sent out to get repaired. Less money than going to the dealer. Thanks for all the advice nothing is straight forward anymore.🤣🤣👍👍
