Superb MK2 disengages from Gear when driving slowly/stopped.

Featured Replies

Hey Team,

Hope you are all doing great. This is my first post here. I have a Skoda Superb MK2 thats done around 130K KM in good condition and drives smooth with good pickup. In the last 1 month I see a weird problem thats occurred twice. A short distance after driving my car, the gear disengages.
The first time this happened, I was crusing at a low speed (20kmph) in a residential area, when my gearbox got disengaged. I did not realise this had happened and pressing the accelarator pedal didnt do antything other than rising the engine rpm. The car had enough momentum so I was able to park it at the side of the road. Nothing solved other than a restart.

The second time, I came near a road intersection and stopped. When it was my turn to go, the gear did not get engaged. I had to restart the car to get it engaged. Moving the gear handle to P/R/N/D/S did not have any affect until the engine was turned off completely and restarted.

Can somebody please tell me whats happening? I dont want this to happen when overtaking for gods sake.

Thanks :)

I dont know why I cannot edit my first post. But to add more details, there was a good 1 month/300KM gap between both occurances if that helps. Thanks.

OK Team, I had a BT OBD2 adapter lying around that I had forgotten how to use. Did some research and this is what I found. If you want me to use a different software let me know and I can do it. Thanks.

@Vinay2x7x No idea, but I do know that fault interpretation depends on which gearbox (code number, not just text narrative) you have.

It has 7 gears. I have a 7 gear DSG I believe. How do I get this code number? Thanks.
