New guy (well old guy - new here!)

Featured Replies

Hello, or 'Ow do as we say around here.

I just found these forums, eve nthough I've been a long time Skoda driver.

Got a 1996 Felicia (from new), done 138,000 mile in it, (just replaced the back box for the third time). Still, would you believe, on the original clutch!

(Wife drives an M reg Favourit)

Love the car, sure, it's failed once or twice, (blown coil, overcharging battery), but considering the punishment it takes, I can hardly complain. By and large, it is solid as a rock and tons of room in the hatch.

Time is taking it's toll on the old girl though, don't think there isn't a panel which isn't rusting now. All that road-salt gonig up and down the motorway each week and East Lancs Road each day. :(

Looking at the Fabia, though it doesn't seem to have the hatch space of the 'Felly'. Hear a lot of good things about it though.

Hello :wavey:

Octavia has a bigger boot (I think a Fabia fits inside it ;) )

:D

Yay! Another vintage skoda owner!

I have an L reg Favorit.

Welcome to Briskoda by the way.

We bought my Favorit for £350 over 3 years ago. He has since done about 60k miles and still going strong. I am with you on the rust, trying living near the sea as well for damaging salt air. Part of my Favorit (or Vlad as he is know) and no longer magnetic.

Mine's known simply as 'Felly', though my mate calls her the Felicia-wah - dunno why, I've long since given up on him. ;)

I'm tempted to run her into the ground before buying a new car, especially as the Fabias seem to have a lot of 'niggles' about them in earlier modesl. So if I wait a bit, then the newer models will be cheaper. Yeah, I am a skinflint. :P

BTW, Vlad looks very similar to the wifes car, which as far as I know, doesn't have a name, it's jsut "my car" to her.

Welcome! Nice site (if it is to do with you!)

Another person from Staffordshire I see:) .

Site is made by me, (I assume you're talking about the wildlife centre :) ), it's where I volunteer. Going down there this Sunday actually, (it's open to the public), but I don't live in Staffs. I actually live in Merseyside (St Helens ... long story), it's only an hour down the M6 though, quicker getting there than getting into Manchester each day for work. :P

Welcome :wavey:

Have you looked at a Furby estate ?

Hiya there.

Wrt TaviaRS's comment about the Octy boot, I think that's an application of trans-dimensional engineering, isn't it? It certainly seems to be way bigger than the distance from back bumper to rear seat (hatch closed) suggests. And a Pompe Duse engined one will still return mid 50s mpg. :-)

Yeah, was thinking about an estate, but when I compare the "seats down" capacity of the Felly vs Fabia, there's an extra 50 cubic litres of space in the Fabia anyway.

Of course, what that translates to in actual storage I dunno, I'm guessing as well that is "to the roof" storage. Not summat I'm over-fond of doing.

Welcome to BRISKODA
