Air bag warning light

Featured Replies

Hi looking for advice ive got a air bag warning light on dash board ive used a obd2 scanner and its shoeing no fault cords Any help would be appreciated  tia

To see airbag fault codes you need a VAG diagnostics scanner. OBD2 is purely for generic engine codes.

See Gendan website for the possibilities.

Thanks mate great help

My car had an airbag warning light prior to my buying it.

From what I can gather by weaving all the paperwork I inherited into a story, they eventually decided there was no issue, further exploration was too much work, and for seven or eight years the airbag light on the dashboard has been blanked by a piece of black tape!

Thanks for the info bud i cant find any breaks or loose connections for any of the airbag connectors how do i blank it? Do i take the clocks appart and tape it or just tape over the clocks?, i need to get it gone as the mot is due in February

When I say blank, I mean the garage (rather than the owner) did what I said - - the airbag light on the dashboard has been blanked by a piece of black tape.

@JamieH86does the MOT examiner not peel it off as some do or are you not in the UK?   Or is it behind the glass not just on it.    The examiner should look for the Airbag light on ignition on and it going out.    For years I had airbags removed in offroaders and not an issue.  Also engine lights covered with tape, then it did become a problem.

The tape is directly over the light, behind the plastic screen - no examiner has ever mentioned it!
