Skoda Superb Estate 2013 - intermittent electrical issues

Featured Replies

1st symptom: intermittent power loss to central console (radio/sat nav etc) - would power on and off frequently- feels like loose electrical connection.

Will check power at fuse 19 - labelled radio - is this for full central console?

New symptom: Central locking won’t open doors, but tailgate opens. Crawled in, central locking buttons on door not responsive.  Tried ignition, dash lights up, but starter won’t turn. Possible flat battery, will try jump start.

Any suggestions/advice?

thanks

Central locking could be the wires that travel through the rubber bellows between the door hinges.  Very common for wires in there to break over time.  Had this problem on my wife's 2013.  It started off with the central locking not working on one side and then the windows followed.  Then the windows and central locking went on both sides.  The boot still locked.

While this was happening, my wife said the head unit was intermittently losing power.  It hasn't happened since I repaired the wiring.  Could be linked or a conincidence.

Do a search.  It's easy to open up the bellows to check the wiring.  Repairing it is a bit more involved.

Get it scanned woth a decent obd reader. Preferably vcds or obd eleven or something more advanced than a 50 quid scanner. Sounds like wiring issue through door or also door module lock i failing. Last one is pretty easy fix for a diy, but takes time. Door lock module is probably around 70-120 quid.
