Fault codes P0222, P0122, P0221, P0638

Hi Everyone,

I've had a 2013 Yeti (1.2L 77kw) for just over a year now, and on the whole love it. Great little car. Unfortunately on the weekend I had a few fault codes pop up, which I read on the OBD reader. These were:

  • P0222: Throttle/pedal position sensor/Switch B circuit Low
  • P0122: Throttle/pedal position sensor/Switch A circuit Low
  • P0221: Throttle/pedal position sensor/Switch B circuit range/performance
  • P0638: Throttle Actuator Control Range/Performance Bank 1

I was on the side of the road so did some googling and from reading some forums thought it was a dirty throttle body, fouling the throttle position sensor. Took it off, cleaned it out (it was already pretty clean, no caked on grub), sprayed some carby cleaner through the system. Codes went away, I drove about 10 min down the highway and the same thing happened.

That led me to investigate a little oil leak I've had for a while and have been meaning to check out. I thought maybe some oil was interfering with the sensor and if I cleaned it all up and fixed the leak, the problem would be solved. Looked like it was coming from the PCV valve so bought a new breather value and crankcase grommet from Skoda and installed last night.

Took the car for a 20 min test drive and it was going great. Came home, cleaned up the tools, went to park the car out the front and the codes came back image.gif.62dd93fbc26ca6a46371d3d5d96efb90.gif😞

I honestly don't know where to go from here. I have some mechanical skills but more-so on old motorbikes than modern cars. My only other potential lead at this point is that there seems to be a little bit of oil in the plastic pipe that goes from the turbo to the throttle body. Is this normal? Leak in the turbo? Or, TPS sensor need replacing?

Or any other thoughts people might have would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
