I just checked. Both fans work w the aircon on. I presume the fan on the right is aircon? The rad fan is no longer comming on on its own though and is only spinning w aircon on.

The radiator fan failing is a "known" VAG fault, at least here in Trinidad. The Skoda dealer and the VW dealer buy the replacement fans from each other when they run out of stock, as it is a frequently failing part.

When it fails, the fan only runs at low speed or not at all, with the high speed not engaging. I never noticed it as I drive the car mainly with the A/C on and the extra A/C fan keeps everything within limits.

Also, with the fan failed, the fan does not stay on for a few minutes when you switch off the engine after driving the car hard.
